8 Best Free Blogging Websites (Sign Up And Start Blogging)

What are some of the best free blogging websites?

Today we’ll dig into this answer.

You don’t always need to find a domain name and a hosting to start your blogging career. Because there are some best free blogging websites that can always work for you even if you don’t want to spend a single dollar..

There are some free blogging websites that are just completely free and you can just log in and start blogging

Writing is a beautiful profession and a lot of people love to write. Even if they are not earning anything, people still love to spread their words.

But if you want to earn a decent amount of money from your blog, you will have to get off these best free blogging websites.

Because earning from a subdomain is NEVER a good idea.

Anyway, let’s start our list of the best free blogging websites.

1. Medium

First one on the list is Medium. Medium is one of the best free blogging websites. It’s extremely simple, user friendly, and easy to set up.

Medium’s minimalistic design and simple yet outstanding font  makes it easier to catch peoples’ attention.

Medium is a sign up and start blogging kind of platform currently used by more than 30,000 writers. Medium is a great platform for those who are starting.

Medium is completely free and does not require any kind of subscription or set up fee.

Signing up for medium is simply easy and not a kind of headache.

You have to pay a $5/month fee to read stories on medium, but writing for it is completely free.

Because of Medium’s domain authority you’re most likely to rank higher. So, this is a plus point in this one of the best free blogging websites.

And the best thing about Medium is that you can earn money from it. There is a clap system which is hard to figure out how exactly it works but still you can look at your profile and see how much you made this month.

Some writers also say there is no need to pick a specific niche to write — you can write about anything and still make money.

How Clapping Works

It is said that, if a visitor claps on your post (clap is a Medium’s version of like) you get a portion of their monthly subscription fee, which is $5.

How Much Can You Earn From Medium

Medium says that almost 90% of people who put only a single story made something — before you jump of joy and rush to create a medium account, read the next line.

But only 8% of them were able to generate more than $100.

Got it now?

Making money is undoubtedly possible on Medium but you’re not going to buy a car.

It’s just my opinion, there are people out there who had success with Medium. In fact there are people earning more than $500 every month. But, making money on Medium is not everyone’s cup of tea.

If you’re thinking of trying Medium, I would suggest you do it.

Because either you will end up making money or you’ll have a cool story to write an article about.

So, it’s a win-win situation.

You don’t have to care about the site’s SEO and Sitemaps kind of things. All you do is sign up for free and start putting content.

Another advantage is their vast email list. They notify medium readers to come back and have a look at their new content via email . And I personally go there everyday to read some articles around the world on different topics.

Make sure you’re writing a powerful headline and you’ll be flooded with visitors.

2. Vocal Media

Vocal is another Medium like platform that pays writers.

Unlike Medium their payment method is clean as they pay according to reads — if a person clicks on your content and scroll down to the end, it will be counted as a read.

How Reads System Work

Actually there are two ways to earn from vocal:

  1. Write amazing content and get many reads.
  2. Win a writing contest.

Let’s take a look at the first one.

Write Amazing Content And Get Reads’s system also works like Medium, if you want to earn a decent amount of money you’ll have to go viral.

According to you earn $3.8 for 1000 reads. That means if your article goes viral and gets 100,000 views you’ll earn $380.

But there is another option which can get you $6 for 1000 reads.

And that is buying Vocal +

Vocal plus is a premium version of Vocal. In which along with many benefits one is you’ll earn $6 for every 1000 reads.

With these stats, you can make $600 for every 100,000 views.

Cool right?

Win a Writing Contest

There comes a writing contest every once in a while. Where you can earn anywhere from $1000 – $10,000 or even more … Who knows?

Vocal pays rewards to winners as per number 1,2, and 3.

One of the best features is their tipping system. You can tip writers upto $10 if you really loved their article.

You can earn some extra dollars with that.

Third one in the list of best free blogging websites is…

3. Blogger

Who doesn’t know about this beautiful blogging platform owned by Google.

Blogger (a.k.a Blogspot) is a google’s platform for blogging. It was owned by Google back in 2004 since then it has been one of the leading best free blogging websites.

This one is one of the best free blogging websites and my favorite one.

Because I started with this platform and found it extremely beautiful. However, it is not as easy to use as compared to Medium or Vocal. Before you mark this one useless read further.

In terms of ease of use this might not be the best one but if you’re talking about signing up and start writing, nothing beats

Blogger let’s you start blogging in a couple of minutes. You just have to create a gmail account and start blogging.

This platform’s biggest problem is layout. There are countless templates on the web but they all look same. With limited customization, if you are behind looks this might not be your best platform.

However, blogspot is all about it’s content. It’s easy to set up so you don’t have to spend hours setting up your layout. And you can give your 100% to writing.

As Google hosts blogs on this platform on their servers, you won’t have any complaints regarding your blog’s speed.

People believe you will have privilege at blogspot because this is Google’s blogging platform.

You will get a subdomain to start like:

If you want to remove that .blogspot from you domain you’ll have to buy a domain from a domain registrar like namecheap or

You Can Make Money With AdSense Partner Program

And the best thing is that you can add Adsense to your blog. That means you can earn some dollars while doing the thing you love.

Adsense pays on CPM which means cost per thousand impressions. If you can bring a lot of traffic to your blogspot blog you can make good money from it.

But it is no surprise that Adsense has low CPM rates and there are adsense alternatives that pay a lot better than adsense. You can have a look at them:

4. WordPress

Loved by all over the world and powers more than 40% of the world’s websites. is the best platform for blogging.

Just like blogger you get as subdomain with .wordpress Infront of your domain name such as:

WordPress is completely free and you can use it for your entire life without having to pay a single dollar.

However, you won’t experience real freedom if you don’t want to spend money.

As compared to blogger WordPress is easier to use because there are plugins for almost everything. If you’re using WordPress or this blog post convince you to use WordPress check out these 10 must have plugins for wordpress (all are free or freemium)

As I said earlier you won’t be given full authority because you’re not paying anything. And if you want to do whatever you want, consider buying a good hosting.

Buy a hosting from Namecheap.

WordPress is not so beginner friendly and you might need a bit of code knowledge to get the most out of

The best and most exciting thing with WordPress is their appearance. They already have ready made themes for you to choose from or if nothing excites you, you can choose from uncountable themes other websites offer.

And you can customize all these themes. Some themes do not offer full customization without premium versions but some let you have full control over them without having to pay anything.

Some of them are:

  • Neve
  • Astra
  • Ocean WP

5. Wix

While talking about the best free blogging websites, we can’t forget wix. Wix is a website builder and also one of the best free blogging websites.

You can create a stunning website or a blog with this beautiful website builder. There are two ways to do it:

  1. Answer multiple questions and let AI make your blog or website.
  1. Do it yourself with a drag and drop interface.

Number 1 is the easiest way possible to create a blog. All you do is answer a few questions and get your work done in a couple of minutes.

Number 2 is drag and drop website builder to create your blog manually.

However, people complain about Wix’s SEO.

Wix’s blogs are not always fastest and people believe ranking a wix blog is a bit hard.

But Wix is an excellent platform and they’re continuously improving. So, most of these points people make are not even valid anymore.

You can use Wix forever without spending any money but if you want to use your domain, you’ll have to look for a domain registrar.

Wix websites and blogs are easy to make and do not require any graphic designing skills. Wix creates mobile-friendly websites with thousands of free themes to choose from.

After choosing Wix you can never complain about their website design because there is nothing you cannot change … Yes, it’s that flexible. After getting your website or a blog created by AI or a drag and drop website builder, you can customize anything from header to footer.

Wix’s free plan shows Wix’s ads on your website but if you choose to remove their ads it will cost you $14/month.

6. Weebly

Weebly is easy-to-use and beginner friendly. It has a simple drag and drop website builder to offer which is extremely beginner friendly. And even a first timer can make a blog in minutes.

That means if you want to blog without paying, Weebly could be an interesting option.

If you do not want Weebly’s free offer (in which they show their ads just like Wix) you can use their cheapest plan which starts from $6.

7. LinkedIn
