And LinkedIn has 303M, active users, monthly. As compared to Instagram’s monthly users, 303M doesn’t look that big as a number.

But, LinkedIn works better for content marketing than Instagram (at least for this blog’s niche). 

And when we see Pinterest’s monthly users that number rises to 454M. But many blogs get most of their traffic from Pinterest. And a lot of bloggers say this search engine is the only answer to getting blog traffic. 

But why is that?

Then, what’s it about?

The answer is targeted audience.

The purpose of Pinterest is to find articles. In the same way, LinkedIn has a separate portion for articles. But, Instagram is exactly the opposite of that. 

Instagram is made for pictures and short videos. Before IGTV partnered with Instagram, it was not possible to upload a video with a length of more than 1 minute. 

It is proof that Instagram was specially made for just skimming and looking at pictures from influencers, celebrities, and brands. And, it’s hard to grow your following there.

Another drawback of this platform is you can’t post your links in comments or post descriptions. And, even if you convince someone to look at your site, they’ll have to click through to your profile and then click through to your website. Which minimizes the click-through rate. 

The only place where you can place your link is in your profile’s bio. So, it’s hard to promote your content and gain good rewards. 

P.S I’m talking about users that do not have lots of followers. If you already have an account that has a good amount of followers, I would suggest that you stick to it and try to grow it even bigger.

People love to follow hashtags of their interest. Because you don’t have to follow a massive number of accounts to get posts about your favorite topic. 

Let’s take an example here: suppose, you’re a fan of “cricket” and of course, you would love to see content about cricket from different accounts across the world. 

And to do that, you would need to follow tons of accounts to get cricket-related posts to your feed. 

But, a hashtag can make your work a lot easier. I mean instead of following all the cricket-related accounts just follow the hashtag #cricket. 

Team Up With Influencers

Teaming up means collaboration. Collaborate with influencers that have a lot of followers in your niche. 

It could be hard for you to collaborate with someone who has like 100k followers when you’re just starting. But hitting up someone with 10-20k followers would be a lot easier for you at first. 

As you grow up, you can dream bigger. 

Another easy way to collaborate with someone is having an interview. I mean, who doesn’t like to be interviewed?

Interviewing an industry expert can boost your reach. It’s most likely that the influencer will share it with their followers on all their social platforms. That can boost your post reach along with followers.

It’s a win-win situation.

Be Active And Consistent

Replying to all the comments and DMs sounds time-consuming. 

But it might not feel that boring after I disclose the benefits of doing it. Instagram prefers fresh content from active accounts (just like all the other social platforms). And, being an active user of Instagram can help you in many ways. 

  • You’ll be gaining a lot of new visitors
  • Instagram will suggest your account to people in your niche.
  • You’ll notice a change in your reach.

So, be wise where to promote and where not to. Just because self-promoting at the wrong place, or, in the wrong way might get you some unfollowers and plenty of hateful comments.

Suppose a person saw your post and what do you think he/she will do now? Most probably they’ll scroll past it or maybe they like it by tapping twice. 

That’s why asking people to share could be a game-changer.

Step 3: tag the influencer maybe a couple of times so he/she can notice it. Or you can email them with a direct link to the post or ask viewers to mention them (the influencer) in the comments.
